I am glad to know that the Indian Journal of Psychiatry has come up with a special supplement covering the mental health issues emerging during the COVID 19 pandemic. It is a matter of great pleasure that various stalwarts in the field of mental health from all over the world have contributed to this COVID 19 pandemic focused supplement of the Indian Journal of Psychiatry. This supplement thus has an international flavour, and the sharing of experiences and observations from different parts of the world makes this issue a unique collaborative exercise in action.

The world has never seen a calamity so universal and is caught by surprise. At the same time, the spirit of humanity stands tall, and together we shall win over this situation. This novel disease has come up with novel challenges and requires out of the box thinking to provide a practical solution. Research and exploration into this matter have provided us with better information and has equipped us with better clinical armamentarium.

I am hopeful that this supplement will be of immense help to fellow psychiatrists and other mental health professionals who read the journal, in getting a better understanding of the mental health challenges amid COVID 19 pandemic.

I thank all the contributors for putting their heart and soul for the compilation and timely release of this supplement. It would not have been possible without your strong commitment to the welfare of humanity.
